Where Balance Meets Brilliance

Côte d’Ivoire Healthcare Supply Chain

PREDICTIVE SUPPLY CHAIN FOR FAMILY PLANNING IN CÔTE D’IVOIRE

Côte d’Ivoire is located in West Africa and it is home to approximately 27.4 million people.  The government of Côte d’Ivoire is committed to making the healthcare system available to the entire population. Since 2017, the national government has increased resource allocation to this purpose.  Public health facilities are an important source of primal health services.

Through its investments, USAID has notably bolstered the accessibility of medications and healthcare services, targeting HIV/AIDS, malaria, maternal and child health issues, as well as access to contraceptives within the nation. USAID/Côte d’Ivoire remains committed to furthering access to helth services by introducing and implementing technologies empowering health facility personnel across all tiers to enhance data quality and its utilization for decision-making purposes. Accordingly, the primary aim of the predictive supply chain in Côte d’Ivoire was to assist Côte d’Ivoire in meeting the healthcare demands of its populace by enhancing availability at the service delivery level through the utilization of intelligent forecasting methodologies. Intelligent forecasting involves employing statistical techniques, advanced analytics, or artificial intelligence (AI) to drive decision-making processes and refine prediction accuracy over time. Furthermore, this endeavor provided USAID with an opportunity to evaluate how intelligent forecasting techniques could enhance the precision of contraceptive consumption forecasts at the service delivery level, as well as to identify and support an organization to pilot such methodologies within the public sector health system of Côte d’Ivoire.

As an answer on a given objective we have assembled an expert team of renowned world experts and academics in supply chain forecasting, inventory control and optimization of logistics processes. Result was a creation of an AI platform, which incorporates all the benefits of different AI forecasting methodologies. It assembles different methodologies in a unique decision making frame, which serves as a platform for generating future logistic decisions and most importantly future inventory & delivery decisions for medications (Figure 1). The platform supports 27 million users distributed through 1752 locations.
